Innovative Danish interior-design brand Muubs focuses on producing and showcasing elegant, unique and sustainable designs made from raw, natural materials. In honour of Scandinavian design’s rustic, aesthetic, Muubs created Dacarr by Muubs – a series of products made from 100-per-cent-recycled trucks, car and bicycle tyres. Muubs explain the concept behind their new series this way:
“We recycle rubber to make new products […]. Objects that have completed their lifecycles can now take on a completely different role in our lives, thus extending the life of the material”
Inspired by Japanese aesthetics, Muubs’ designers are devoted to genuine craftsmanship, attention to detail and durable design. They believe in a minimalistic lifestyle built around a handful of high-quality design pieces for the home that reflect timeless, functional and visually-appealing design.
“Finding beauty in imperfection is about accepting and admiring the natural cycle of growth and decay and seeking the essential parts of life,” a representative for Muubs’ designers explains.
The Dacarr by Muubs series, which consists of baskets of various sizes made entirely from recycled tyre rubber, tallies well with the brand’s wider focus on and pride in bringing authenticity, soul and a down-to-earth feel to our homes and everyday lives. Muubs explain that their use of recycled tyre rubber as the design material for the series also lets end-users dispose of their products at their local recycling centre, where rubber has its own recycling category. The product is then granulated along with other discarded tyres, and the rubber is recycled into new products.
Muubs’ creations honour Scandinavian design’s pared-back aesthetic, and they believe that, as a design material, rubber pairs well with the Scandinavian style.
“The Dacarr series made from recycled tyres embodies robust design. Each of the series’ products can be used either indoors or outdoors all year round since the elastic rubber material is resistant to frost damage. This useful characteristic, the items’ design and their inherent support of the environmental cause are the main reasons for Dacarr by Muubs’ success," concludes a Muubs spokesperson on behalf of the company.
